RIVER SONG

A River gently flowed
Through valleys and forest green.
Her song soft and clear,
Her water sparkling clean.
But as she reached the plains,
         And flowed beside our town,
         She lost her happy rhythm,
         And her water became brown.
What happened to our river?
Why did she spoil her song?
Does someone know the answer?
Does someone know what is wrong?
We have thrown our dirty garbage.
         Our smelly factory waste.
         Our plastic cups and saucers.
         Into our's river lap.
We have killed the lovely fishes,
The tadpoles and the crabs.
There are no frogs that jump around.
On the river's pebbly bank.
         Let's clean all the garbage.
         And make our river clean.
She'll bless the fields and forests,
         And make our country green.
